India Test squad for ENG vs IND: In an important news update, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the India Test squad for the remaining fifth and final Test match against England scheduled to be held in July 2022. Team India is currently leading the five-match Test series in England with a 2-1 scoreline. The visitors were forced the leave the Test series midway last year after a massive Covid-19 outbreak in their camp.

Rohit Sharma has been named the Indian Test skipper this time for the fifth and final Test match against England scheduled to start from 1 July, 2022 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. Incidentally, Cheteshwar Pujara has made a return to the Test team following a brilliant run in the English County Season after he was left out for the home series against Sri Lanka. Shardul Thakur also makes a comeback after being rested for the Lanka series.

Ajinkya Rahane was not available for selection due to a hamstring injury while Ravindra Jadeja has been included in the Test side for the England tour as he is expected to recover in time. Jadeja alongside Ravichandran Ashwin are the only two spinners in the Indian team while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna form part of the pace bowling attack.

England vs India Schedule

The Indian team is also scheduled to play a four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire starting from 24 June, 2022 at the Grace Road in Leicester. The visitors will also take part in as many as two warm-up T20 matches against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire on 1 and 3 July, 2022 respectively.
