The Delhi Capitals have made some exciting reinforcements ahead of the Tata IPL 2027. Chasing their first-ever IPL title, the Capitals look determined to transform their fortunes ahead of the next season, as the franchise has completely overhauled its support staff.

The Capitals have onboarded some of the biggest names the sport has ever seen into their coaching setup. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly takes full charge as the Head Coach, while white-ball legend Yuvraj Singh joins as the Assistant Coach and Batting Coach. To sharpen their bowling unit, DC have brought in Sri Lankan icon Chaminda Vaas as the Fast Bowling Coach and veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra as the Spin Bowling Coach.

Sourav Ganguly: Head Coach of Delhi Capitals

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has taken over the head coach reins from Hemang Badani. Sourav brings immaculate authority, strategic clarity, and a proven track record of nurturing young talent. Having been associated with the franchise in the past in different capacities, Sourav isn’t new to DC’s setup.

Known for his aggressive leadership during his playing days for India, Ganguly’s main objective will be instilling a winning mindset and building a fearless environment inside the dressing room.

Yuvraj Singh: Assistant & Batting Coach

One of the biggest headlines of DC’s backroom reshuffle is the appointment of Yuvraj Singh as Assistant and Batting Coach. A two-time World Cup hero and one of white-ball cricket’s greatest match-winners, Yuvraj’s arrival adds massive star power and technical knowledge.

Yuvraj has already demonstrated his coaching prowess by mentoring young Indian superstars like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma in domestic cricket. His primary focus at Delhi Capitals will be developing middle-order power hitters, improving intent during middle overs, and helping batters handle high-pressure match situations. His dynamic personality makes him an ideal mentor for younger squad members looking to unleash their full potential.

Chaminda Vaas: Fast Bowling Coach

To build a disciplined and lethal pace attack, Delhi Capitals have appointed one of Sri Lanka’s greatest pacemen, Chaminda Vaas as their Fast Bowling Coach. Vaas, who took over 700 international wickets across formats, is renowned for his mastery over swing, seam presentation, and pinpoint yorkers at the death.

With extensive coaching experience with various national teams and franchise leagues worldwide, Vaas will be tasked with developing DC’s Indian and overseas fast bowlers. His tactical insight into bowling variations during the powerplay and death overs will be vital on high-scoring Indian pitches.

Amit Mishra: Spin Bowling Coach

In a move that brings deep IPL heritage back into the dugout, veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra joins as the Spin Bowling Coach. Mishra is one of the highest wicket-takers in IPL history and holds the unique record of taking three hat-tricks in the tournament, one of which came during his playing days with Delhi.

Mishra’s intimate knowledge of Indian pitches, particularly the home conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, gives DC a massive tactical advantage. His hands-on experience in flighting the ball, setting smart traps, and outsmarting modern-day aggressive batters will be invaluable for the team’s spin department.

Delhi Capitals to enter IPL 2027 with a new vision

With a sheer overhaul in the coaching setup, the Capitals must be hoping to make IPL 2027 their own. Having never won the elusive trophy despite playing from the very first season of the Indian Premier League, the Capitals are desperate to get their hands on the coveted title, and the quartet of Sourav, Chaminda, Yuvraj, and Amit will be working together to make the Capitals hold that IPL trophy at the end of the 2027 season.
