Gujarat Giants (GG) Playing 11: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is nearing its historic start. The first game of the tournament is scheduled to be played on March 4 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. The game will commence at 7:30 PM IST.

Other than these two, there’re three more teams in the tournament, namely Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriorz. A total of 22 matches will be played and all the games will be played at the DY Patil Stadium or the Brabourne Stadium-CCI in Mumbai.

In the end, the Eliminator game will be played on March 24 at the DY Patil Stadium, while the Final will be hosted by the Brabourne Stadium-CCI on March 26.

Speaking about the Gujarat Giants (GG) in the auction, particularly, they bought the most expensive overseas player, Ash Gardner of Australia for INR 3.2 crore. Interestingly, the franchise made their second-most expensive signing for another overseas cricketer Beth Mooney, a colleague of Gardner in the Australian women’s cricket team. More to the point, out of the side’s top five most costly buyings, four are foreigners.

  • Further, Sneh Rana and Georgia Wareham are most likely to lead the spin unit of the side. Wareham is a leg spinner and Rana can bat as well.
  • Mansi Joshi, Tanuja Kanwer, and Annabel Sutherland may execute some raw pace. Sutherland can also provide some spicy batting cameos for Gujarat Giants. While Kanwer is a left-arm medium pacer from Himachal Pradesh.
