Former India cricketer Roger Binny feels that all-rounder Hardik Pandya is the most important player in the Indian team for the Test series against Australia as he can make the difference by contributing in both departments.
The former India cricketer was speaking with an online cricket portal. He said that Pandya can contribute 30-40 runs consistently and he feels it will definitely help the bottom half.
Binny noted that it always makes a difference and he is always for an all-rounder in the XI. He feels Hardik can do the job of both and according to him Hardik is is the most important player in the team.
Hardik Pandya has been added in India’s squad recently as he missed the first two Tests against Australia due to injury issues. The all-rounder was part of India’s squad for all formats for the tours of South Africa and England and is suppose to play a significant role for the team during the Australia series.
At the same time, Binny pointed out that we don’t seem to be encouraging too many all-rounders. He noted that you cannot rely on specialist bowlers to bat and once you are six down team is in trouble.
The Indian openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul have come under the scanner for their poor performances in the recent matches. When asked about this, Binny said that he thinks experience wise they should be given one more shot. He explained that we can’t judge them as the last Test pitch wasn’t an easy wicket to bat on.

He feels they need one more chance and probably if they don’t make it count then you have to look at other options.
