ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Fixtures, Groups, Venues Announced for the Flagship Event

The countdown has begun. The 10th edition of ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to kick off on February 7, 2026. The reigning champions, India, will be in action on the opening day of the competition as they will take on the United States of America in one of the three games staged for the opening day at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The 20-team ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by 2-time champions India and 2014 champions Sri Lanka, spanning 29 days across eight venues—five in India and three in Sri Lanka. Take a look at the venues.

ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Format – Detailed Breakdown

Group Stage (Feb 7 – Feb 20, 2026)

• 20 teams divided into four groups (A, B, C, D) of five teams each.
• Each team plays four matches (round-robin within the group).
• The top two teams from each group qualify for the Super 8s.
• Total 40 matches in this stage.

Super 8s (Feb 21 – Mar 1, 2026)

• The 8 qualified teams are split into two groups of four.
• Each team plays three matches (round-robin).
• The top two teams from each Super 8 group advance to the semi-finals.
• Total 12 matches in this stage.

Knockout Stage (Mar 4 – Mar 8, 2026)

• Semi-Final 1: Eden Gardens, Kolkata (alternative: Colombo, if Pakistan qualifies).
• Semi-Final 2: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
• Final: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad (alternative: Colombo, if Pakistan qualifies).

ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Fixtures

The group stage will commence on February 7 and conclude on February 20, with the final group game to be played between Oman and the 2021 champions, Australia. The Super 8 Stage will commence on 21st February, whereas the knockouts will take place from March 4.
