With the stage set for an epic showdown, let’s delve into all the aspects of the T20 World Cup, starting with the history.
The inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup took place back in 2007. It was the first time that the shortest format of the game got its own standalone ICC event. The World Cup was hosted by South Africa, and boy, it was full of entertainment. Team India emerged as the winners of the inaugural T20 World Cup by 5 runs, beating their archrivals Pakistan in an epic finale played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. Since then, the tournament has usually been played in a span of 2 years, with some exceptions in the duration. Check out the list of winners of the ICC T20 World Cup.
