He took 21 wickets and more importantly provided the breakthroughs when the team needed the most.

Bumrah featured in all four Tests for India along with Mohammad Shami while Ishant Sharma played in the first three Tests.

Bumrah bowled 157 overs during the four Tests and claimed 21 wickets at an average of 17 while Shami sent 136 overs.

According to BCCI, keeping in mind the work load of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia. Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah in the squad for the Australia and New Zealand tour.

India have also added Siddharth Kaul in the Indian squad for the series against New Zealand.
