India and Australia faced each other in the historic Boxing Day test match here in Melbourne in what was the 100th test match that was played between the two cricketing giants. The present corona virus situation has had it’s effect in restricting the crowd size to just 30 thousand spectators in the magnificent Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Mitchell Starc who has been magnificent with the new ball was very eager to do well with a soft old ball as well. He had to take wickets and take them quickly to help Australia comeback in the game. On Day 3, India were well ahead in the game thanks to a great century by Ajinkya Rahane.

Mitchell Starc opted for short ball tactics to ruffle up the batsman who were well settled and during that period Ajinkya Rahane was run out and Australia had an opening. Then Mitchell Starc produced a good bouncer to have Ravindra Jadeja caught at deep midwicket and then gave him a send-off of sorts while celebrating. Ravindra Jadeja himself had earlier done his bit of celebration by showing his trademark sword moves on reaching his fifty.

India win the historic test yet again.

India got a very good lead of 131 runs in the first innings and then backed up with a very good bowling effort to restrict Australia to exactly 200 runs in the second innings. That meant the Indians had to chase only a mere 70 runs for victory to level up the series at 1-1 after a terrible batting collapse cost them to lose the first test at Adelaide. India had earlier won the test in 2018 which was the win that gave them the series win last time around.
