Krunal Pandya: Team India are currently locking horns with England in the first of the three ODIs in Pune which is turning out to be a highly-anticipated contest. England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected field first on a good batting wicket at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. India have posted a massive total of 317 for 5 in their quota of 50 overs after fabulous half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya.

Krunal Pandya smashes fastest fifty in ODIs by a debutant

After an excellent performance in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, the duo of Krunal Pandya and Prasidh Krishna were rewarded with their debut ODI caps in the first IND vs ENG ODI game. It was an emotional moment for Krunal as his younger brother Hardik Pandya presented him his debut ODI cap. And then in his very first game, Krunal stunned the entire cricketing fraternity with an outstanding unbeaten knock of 58 runs off only 31 balls that included 7 fours and 2 sixes. The elder Pandya brother reached his half-century in just 26 balls which is now the fastest fifty in ODIs by a debutant.

After scoring a brilliant debut fifty for India, Krunal also pointed to the heavens, while remembering his late father who tragically passed away a few months ago. He also embraced his younger brother Hardik Pandya, after his knock, as they shared an intimate moment together. While speaking during the post-match interview, Krunal once again broke down in tears as he dedicate his scintillating innings on debut to his late father.

India vs England: Krunal and Rahul fifties help India post 317/5

After the wicket of Rohit Sharma, the pair of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan batted fabulously well during the middle-overs stage to compose an excellent partnership of 105 runs. However, both the set batters were dismissed in quick time by the visitors as Kohli got out after scoring 56 runs while Dhawan played a remarkable knock of 98 runs. Towards the end, the pair of KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya absolutely dismantled the England bowling attack with a power-packed stand of 112 runs to help India finish with an imposing total of 317/5 in their 50 overs. Rahul also played a wonderful innings of 62 runs off 43 balls.
