IND vs ENG, 3rd Test Live: The Indian team definitely needs to punch much above their weights in order to make a comeback in the ongoing Headingley Test match. England have dominated the proceedings as they first got the visitors bowled out for a paltry total of 78 runs in the first innings and then took a massive lead of 354 runs.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma was once again batting with a lot of patience and showed great amount of application in the second innings of the third Test. He reached a wonderful fifty before the tea break on Day 3 but then England pacer Ollie Robinson trapped Rohit leg-before wicket at the start of the final session. The on-field umpire gave the decision in the bowler’s favour, but Rohit Sharma challenged it straightaway and during the replays, it showed umpire’s call on hitting the wickets. The Indian opener looked really disappointed while walking back to the pavilion after scoring 59 runs.
Just after the dismissal of Rohit, ‘Jarvo 69’ once again intervened the field and this time he was all padded-up to bat for India. Jarvo, who is England-born fan first came out dressed in the Indian jersey during the Lord’s Test match and he had to be taken off from the field by the security officials both in London and now in Leeds.
After losing Rohit Sharma, the onus is on the duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and captain Virat Kohli to bat through the final session of the day. Pujara has scored a gutsy half-century in some difficult conditions and he has played attacking cricket unlikely of his natural game. However, India are still trailing by 200 runs and they have to bat out of their skins to save this game.
Earlier in the Test match, England skipper Joe Root scored yet another century while Dawid Malan played a brilliant innings of 70 runs as the hosts posted a mammoth total of 432 runs.
