Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: Team India have been on a roll this evening, with some fours and sixes flying all over the park. However, the proceedings began with both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma openings the innings. The captain and vice captain struck a partnership of 94 runs for the first wicket in 9 overs.
It was Rohit Sharma who played the role of an aggressor, while, Virat Kohli anchored the innings. The Hitman smashed 64 runs of just 34 deliveries, have struck four boundaries and five sixes. Captain Kohli had the best seat in the house as he enjoyed the stroke play from the other end.
Kohli’s reaction to one of Rohit Sharma’s boundary made it quite evident of that as well.
The carnage carried on even after the fall of Rohit Sharma’s wicket as Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also got into the act. Walking in at number three, Suryakumar scored a quick fire 32 from 17 deliveries before getting dismissed by a blinder of a relay catch from Chris Jordan and Jason Roy.
Hardik Pandya also chipped in with a scintillating 17 ball 39, while, remaining unbeaten in the process. Virat Kohli batted till the very end and scored 80 from 52 deliveries and got India to a daunting total of 224 for the fall of just 2 wickets.
The England bowlers didn’t have the best of days and it could come to bite them as the series hangs on the line. Nevertheless, the visitors do have ample firepower in their respective line up to make the difference.
