The pitch assisted spinners big time and fast bowlers from both the sides weren’t of any use as a result, only 38 overs were bowled by fast bowlers out of 142.2 overs in the test. Jasprit Bumrah got enough rest playing the game which is a rare event to say the least. The 4th test is set to take place on 4th of March and the Gujarat pacer has been withdrawn from the squad.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: Bumrah to be replaced by Umesh Yadav?

The latest update from BCCI is that the exceptionally talented fast bowler in Jasprit Bumrah made a request to BCCI to release him from the squad for the 4th test citing personal reasons. The exact reasons are unknown and in all likelihood, BCCI might not name a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah as they already have 2 quality pacers in the squad in Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav to choose from as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the playing 11.

It was expected that Umesh Yadav will be the part of playing 11 in the pink ball test as well but India read the pitch to perfection and went ahead with 3 spinners in the XI which proved to be a master stroke. Although, the 3rd spinner in Washington Sundar didn’t need bowl more than 4 balls in the test, the need for the fast bowlers were zero in that wicket.

Will England level the series?

India vs England series started with an upset with England hammering India in the first game but things went as expected in the remaining 2 games. England will be coming hard at India in the 4th test as this is a golden opportunity to draw a series in India which is no small feat by any means.
