The first Test of the five-match series between England and India is evenly poised. Resuming the innings on the score of 25/0 the hosts have batted well on the fourth day to wipe off the 95-run deficit and build the lead. Home skipper Joe Root smashed a century and the hosts are more than 200 runs ahead of Virat Kohli-led side.

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj once again took the spotlight after giving a silent send-off to Jonny Bairstow. The right-arm pacer was once again in the action and some fiery mood on the fourth day.

The wicket of Jos Buttler brought Sam Curran to the crease. Mohammed Siraj, who was bowling the 74th over, completely beat the southpaw on the edge and exchanged some words with him. After the English all-rounder smashed the pacer for four one ball later, Siraj then bowled three short balls and then again had a face-off with the young all-rounder.

IND vs ENG Live: Joe Root brings classy ton under pressure 

After losing two early wickets on Day 3, Joe Root steadied the hosts’ ship and dominated the Indian bowlers. The English skipper played all the classy shots and brought a classy century and helped his team take a lead of more than 200 runs.

Coming to bat at No.4 Joe Root started playing his shots as soon as he arrived at the crease. He, however, survived several hiccups but displayed great grit and determination to bring up his 21st Test hundred. English skipper then soon perished when Team India took the new ball as he nicked Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery to Rishabh Pant.
