Ish Sodhi IND vs NZ: In a crucial news development, New Zealand’s senior spinner Ish Sodhi is unfortunately not playing the first of the three-match ODI series against India being hosted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. New Zealand will certainly be feeling high on momentum after beating Pakistan 2-1 in the three-match ODI series recently on their home soil. More importantly, the Kiwis have done exceptionally well in the 50-overs format off late.

Ahead of the opening ODI game against India, New Zealand skipper Tom Latham revealed that their premier leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is struggling with a niggle. However, Latham is quite hopeful that the leggie will be completely fit for the final two ODI games in India as he has been a crucial member of the New Zealand playing XI especially in the sub-continent conditions. Sodhi has taken as many as 51 wickets from 39 ODI games at an economy of less than 6. He has troubled the Indian batsmen during the previous white-ball games in their own conditions.

“Unfortunately a niggle for Ish. He won’t be available tomorrow but fingers crossed he will be available for the next couple of games,” said New Zealand captain Tom Latham in the pre-match press conference.
