Kane Williamson IND vs NZ: The New Zealand team management took a big decision when they decided to rest their regular captain Kane Williamson from the ongoing India tour consisting of three-match ODI series and 3 T20I matches. New Zealand have already suffered poor defeats in the first two ODI games at the hands of hosts India and are currently trailing 0-2 in the three-match ODI series. The Kiwi team will now be really desperate to get a victory under their belt in this 3rd ODI against India in Indore.
New Zealand definitely missed the services of their captain Kane Williamson in the opening two ODI matches against India as he is quite a solid batsman in the middle-order in the 50-overs format as witnessed over the years. Williamson registered two brilliant back-to-back half-centuries against Pakistan to help the Kiwi side win the series, however, the visitors have suffered batting collapses in both the games during the ongoing India tour. In his absence, Tom Latham has been appointed the stand-in captain for the India ODIs but the southpaw has failed to contribute much with the bat so far.
Latham has played as many as 122 ODI matches for New Zealand so far where he has scored more than 3400 runs that includes 18 fifties and 7 centuries while Williamson has smashed over 6500 runs from 161 ODI matches at an average of 47, including 42 half-centuries and 13 hundreds. Both these batsmen have a lot of experience playing in the Indian conditions across formats.
