IND vs SL: The Sri Lanka vs India limited-overs series will start with the three-match ODI series on 13 July. Both India and Sri Lanka will also be facing each other in 3 T20I games scheduled to begin on 21 July. This will be India’s last T20I assignment before the all-important T20 World Cup set to take place later this year in the UAE.
Recently, Team India played its 2nd intra-squad match ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. It was another face-off between Bhuvneshwar Kumar XI and Shikhar Dhawan XI. After batting first, the Bhuvneshwar Kumar XI posted a total of 248 for 6 in their 45 overs. Hardik Pandya was the top performer in the first innings having played a blistering innings of 79 runs while opener Ruturaj Gaikwad also scored an excellent 75-run knock. The duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Devdutt Padikkal came up with useful contributions of 35 and 34 runs respectively.
During the chase, India captain Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed for a duck but Prithvi Shaw smashed a quick-fire innings of 84 runs. Manish Pandey scored back-to-back fifties as Dhawan XI scored 195 for 4 in their 29 overs. The match couldn’t be completed but from the bowlers’ point of view, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In the last few days, there have been lot of talks going around India’s tour of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka batting coach Grant Flower has tested positive for COVID-19 and now the entire team is under isolation. However, Sri Lanka is yet to announce their final squad for India series.
