Interestingly, West Indies premier all-rounder Jason Holder is not part of the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series at home against India. The India vs West Indies 1st ODI encounter will be starting on 27 July, 2023 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. This three-match ODI series against India do not have much of context for the West Indies team as they have already failed to qualify for this year’s ODI World Cup after their disappointing performance in the recently concluded Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
West Indies’ senior all-rounder Jason Holder is not part of the 15-member ODI squad announced for the WI vs IND ODI series at home. According to reports, the seam bowling all-rounder was not available for selection for the three ODI matches. However, Holder was part of the national team during the recently concluded two-match Test series against India at home, but he failed to contribute well both in the batting as well as bowling departments. The right-arm fast bowler also failed to perform during the ODI World Cup Qualifiers 2023 in Zimbabwe where he ended up picking as many as 6 wickets from 5 games.
Jason Holder brings a lot of balance in the white-ball format as he has the ability to contribute impactful performance both with the bat and ball. Holder has scored a total of 2237 runs from 138 ODI matches that includes as many as 12 half-centuries. He has also taken 159 wickets at an economy of less than 6. In his absence, West Indies have included three all-rounders, Kyle Mayers, Keacy Carty and Gudakesh Motie.
1. Brandon King 2. Kyle Mayers 3. Alick Athanaze 4. Shai Hope (C & wk) 5. Shimron Hetmyer 6. Rovman Powell 7. Romario Shepherd 8. Yannic Cariah 9. Dominic Drakes 10. Gudakesh Motie 11. Jayden Seales
