KL Rahul Not Playing IND vs WI: In a massive news development, former India captain KL Rahul is not playing in the first ODI match against West Indies taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is a massive historic moment for Indian cricket as they will be taking the field against the Windies team in their 1000th ODI match. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has won the toss and opted to field first in the first ODI.

IND vs WI: Why is KL Rahul Not Playing Today?

India’s KL Rahul was not available for the first ODI of the three-match ODI series against West Indies as he had to attend his sister’s wedding. Team India’s troubles had increased as the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Navdeep Saini tested positive for COVID-19 alongside four members of the support staff ahead of the first ODI. Thus, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) added the trio of Mayank Agarwal, Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan to the India ODI squad.

However, KL Rahul has joined the Indian squad in Ahmedabad and is currently completing his mandatory quarantine of 3 days. In his absence, Ishan Kishan will be opening batting for India alongside captain Rohit Sharma in the opening ODI against West Indies. Deepak Hooda will be making his ODI debut in this first ODI.
