In a massive breaking news update, India’s regular captain Rohit Sharma is not playing the second ODI match against West Indies being played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. India performed extremely well in the first ODI game where they defeated West Indies by a convincing margin of 5 wickets at the very same venue. After winning the Test series, India have also taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first, India’s stand-in captain Hardik Pandya revealed that regular skipper Rohit Sharma is not part of the India playing 11 for this IND vs WI 2nd ODI match. Hardik further mentioned that Rohit clearly misses out in order to experiment things with respect to giving opportunities to some players ahead of this year’s ODI World Cup to be played at home. Interestingly, during the first ODI match against West Indies, Rohit came out to bat at the No.7 position in the chase of 115 runs and remained unbeaten at 12 runs off 19 balls. In his absence, the Men in Blue have included swashbuckling batsman Sanju Samson in the side.

“We were looking to bat first. We want to see how much we can score on this pitch which is a bit up and down. Rohit and Virat have been playing constant cricket, so they are resting in this game. They can be fresh for the third ODI. I think when you get someone out for 115, it’s a good effort from the bowlers. Our catching was impressive, but we can improve in certain areas. Instead of losing five wickets, we could have lost only two wickets and finished the last game. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come in for Rohit and Virat,” said India stand-in captain Hardik Pandya during the toss.
