IND vs AUS

It has been a rollicking start for Team India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. The two games in Nagpur and Delhi have been the testimony of India’s dominance at home and how have they fared in the home games since the last one decade. They literally have made a mockery of Australia in two games and the proof of that has been their innings and 132 runs win in the first game and 6 wickets win in the second game. They have taken a 2-0 lead in the series and have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth consecutive time. Both the games have been near-perfect game for the Rohit Sharma-led side but there are still room for improvement for them. As the third game is just a few days away from now, let’s take a look at 3 Changes India can make for IND vs AUS 3rd Test:

1. Shubman Gill in place of KL Rahul

Things are turning from bad to worse for Indian opener KL Rahul. His place in the Indian side has come under a lot of scrutinies for his torrid run in Test cricket. The two Test didn’t go the way he would’ve wanted as he was dismissed for low scores. It’s fair too far that he hasn’t lived up to the expectations and the team might look to replace him. He was also axed as the vice-captain of the team and with him having a poor average of just 33 in over 45 games his place in the team might be in jeopardy. He’s likely to be replaced by Shubman Gill, who scored a century in the last game he played and is in red-hot form.

2. Jaydev Unadkat in place of Mohammed Siraj

Another change that India might look to do for the third Test is that they can bring in Jaydev Unadkat in place of Mohammed Siraj. Siraj has been continuously playing cricket and it’s fair to say that he needs the desired rest for the upcoming important assignments. He did reasonably well in the two games against Australia and can be rested for the third. In his place, Jaydev Unadkat can be a perfect replacement as he has a great experience with Indian conditions and also recently led his side to the Ranji Trophy win. He can be a great asset to the Indian side even in spin-friendly conditions.

3. Ishan Kishan in place of KS Bharat

India’s team might well be tempted to bring Ishan Kishan into the mix for the second game against Australia in Indore. It’s fair to say that India lacks a dasher in the mix, who can change the course of the game in a few overs. Ishan can be perfect for that role and replace KS Bharat, who hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations with the bat in the two games.  Also, the Team would want a proper left-hander batter in the top 5 to counter the spin on Indore and get runs quickly on Indore’s wicket and therefore Kishan might get the opportunity in the second Test.
