Ishan Kishan Not Playing 4th Test IND vs AUS 2023

Ishan Kishan India vs Australia: The biggest breaking news development coming from the Indian camp is that Ishan Kishan has not been handed his debut Test cap for the fourth and final Test match against Australia scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After winning the opening two Test matches by big margins, India did not witness the best of fortunes in the third Test match against Australia where they suffered a disappointing 9-wicket loss. Australia have now brought the four-match Test series at 1-2 margin and thus, they have a good chance to level the series.

India vs Australia: Why is Ishan Kishan Not Playing Today’s IND vs AUS 4th Test? Who is India Wicket Keeper?

Ahead of the fourth Test match against Australia, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that the team has decided to show full faith on wicket-keeper batsman KS Bharat despite his poor batting performances in the series so far. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Bharat got a chance to make his Test debut in the opening Test match against Australia in Nagpur, however, the right-hander has managed to score just 57 runs in 5 innings but has done an excellent job behind the wickets. Rohit also stated that it is a bit unfair to judge the wicket-keeper’s batting performance on these kind of challenging pitches and they have decided to give him a fair run in the national team. This also means that Ishan Kishan will have to sit out and wait some more time to play his debut Test match.

“It’s a big miss. When we knew he wasn’t going to be available for us, that was one of the reasons we got Ishan in because obviously he’s a left-hander, can play attacking cricket. But speaking about Bharat. He has spent a lot of time in domestic cricket, played a lot of Ranji Trophy, India ‘A’ team cricket, Zonals and scored a lot of runs. So it will be slightly unfair to judge him on these pitches,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the pre-match press conference.

“If someone’s making a debut in the series, you’ve got to give him enough room or enough innings for him to set himself up for a big score. That is something that I spoke to Bharat at the start of the series, do not worry about what kind of pitches we play on, or what challenges are ahead, you’ll get enough time to prove yourself, because these pitches are not easy,” he added.
