India vs England: It is really important for India to start this long England tour with a win in the first Test match, however, things won’t be that easy for the visitors. England captain Joe Root notched up a remarkable 21st Test hundred on Day 4 to set up a brilliant ending to this gripping first Test in Nottingham. However, India are definitely still very much in the game due to Jasprit Bumrah’s magnificent fifer.
Joe Root’s century gives England the Advantage
After scoring a brilliant fifty in the first innings, Joe Root continued to show his class on a difficult Trent Bridge wicket against a quality Indian bowling attack. The right-handed English skipper racked up a remarkable century as he was absolutely amazing on the entire Day 4 of the Test match. The hosts kept on losing wickets at regular intervals but he stood rock solid at one end. However, Root suffered a minor lack of concentration that eventually led to him getting dismissed only after playing a fabulous innings of 109 runs that included 14 boundaries.

Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to bat in a nervy passage of play towards the end. England’s veteran fast bowler Stuart Broad was bowling really well and he picked up the prized scalp of Rahul to hand his team the opening breakthrough. India were 52 for 1 at stumps on Day 4 trailing by a total of 157 runs. The duo of Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara are still unbeaten at the crease.
Unlike the original weather forecast for the day, it was quite fortunate that there were no rain interruptions and the fans will surely be hoping that the dark clouds stay away on the final day of the Test match as well.
