India vs England: After going down on the final day of the Lord’s Test, England made a fantastic comeback to level the five-match Test series 1-1 with a comprehensive victory in the third Test against India. The Joe Root-led England team won the Headingley Test match by an innings and 76 runs. The ENG vs IND Test series is wonderfully poised ahead of the fourth Test scheduled at the Kennington Oval starting from 2 September.
England’s veteran pacer James Anderson has bowled amazingly well so far in this series against India and has constantly troubled their top-order batters. Anderson has taken a total of 13 wickets in the series at an average of 19.23 and has bowled as many as 116.3 overs in the three Tests. During a recent interview, England’s head coach Chris Silverwood gave an important update on the 39-year-old pacer’s availability for the 4th Test. Silverwood mentioned that he doesn’t wants any of his fast bowlers to break down in the midst of this long Test series and thus, managing their workload is really important.
“What I don’t want to do is break them. We’ve got a lot of cricket in front of us. The Tests are coming thick and fast now. Back-to-back, it is difficult,” said England head coach Chris Silverwood to the media.
“These guys are giving everything, every day when we are out on the field and we have got to make sure we are looking after them. But I won’t be making any decisions or judgments right now,” he added.
England have made some changes to their squad for the upcoming fourth Test against India. For the hosts, wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler will not be available while all-rounder Chris Woakes makes a return after recovering from a heel injury. England have also included Sam Billings and Mark Wood in their 15-member squad while Jonny Bairstow will don the wicket-keeping duties in the 4th Test.
On the other hand, it will be interesting to see what will be India’s playing XI for the Oval Test match after that massive loss at the Headingley. India’s left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja suffered a knee injury during the third Test and he is currently, uncertain to be available for the 4th Test. The duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur are likely to return into the India playing 11 in place of Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma respectively.
