IPL 2020 All Stars match to be played after the tournament: Reports

The confusion regarding the IPL all-stars match has finally come to an end and we might have a date soon. After lots of debates and discussions, it has been finally decided by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) that the proposed match will be played only after the entire season of the Indian Premier League 2020 has ended.

Franchises reluctant to release players ahead of IPL 2020:  Reports

After the auctions, it was announced by the IPL governing council that there are attempts are being made to organise a special exhibition match between two sides which will be made by players from all the eight franchises. It was made clear that one of the teams will be formed with players from North and East franchises, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. While the other team will have players from South and West teams, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. With all this, it was also announced that the match will be played ahead of the IPL season.

As soon as this was announced, the franchises showed reservation towards the idea of releasing players ahead of the tournament. As per the reports, the fear of losing an important player ahead of the tournament had not gone down with the franchises. After a lot of talks regarding this, it was finally decided that the IPL all-star game will be shifted at the end of the tournament.

IPL All-Star game to be played annually from now: IPL GC Chairman Patel

Brijesh Patel, IPL GC Chairman said in an interview, “We are not calling it off, it has just been postponed to the end of the tournament. We wanted to see how the players are performing, and on the basis of that, form the teams for the All-Star match.” It was also announced by him that this event will now be held annually and would be a charity event organised by IPL governing council and BCCI. According to sources, the all-star match could be played at the New Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, which recently opened as the largest cricket stadium in the world.
