IPL 2020: Jos Buttler to miss the first match for Rajasthan Royals

Jos The underdogs, RR will be starting their campaign against MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings on September 22nd in Sharjah. They have suffered a massive blow in Jos Buttler who wont be available for the game.

One of the underdogs of the IPL history, RR won the inaugural edition of IPL under the spin wizard Shane Warne and they haven’t even reached the finals ever since. They have made some interesting inclusions to their squad with the likes of Karthik Tyagi and Akash Singh who all have been established customers and impressed everyone at the U19 level.

Jos Buttler to do quarantine with his family

One of the best T20 batsmen going around in the world in Jos Buttler has become a revelation in the shortest format of the game ever since he was promoted to open the innings. The wicket-keeper batsman showed his all round skills and played with freedom as an opener. With him not being available for RR for their tournament opener, RR captain Steve Smith will have task cut out to marshal his troops without their star batsman Jos Buttler.

“I’m unfortunately going to miss the first match for Rajasthan because I’m going to be doing my quarantine period because I’m here with my family – which is great that the Royals have allowed me to have my family out here. It’ll be a huge help in lockdown having my family here with me,” Jos Buttler said in an Instagram live session

Who can replace the English duo?

RR also will miss the services of Ben Stokes who is yet to join the team in UAE and there is no clarity regarding his participation in the tournament to this point in time. With Jos Buttler missing the first game, that’s a double blow for RR and they don’t have quality replacements too.
In all likelihood, Robin Uthappa will be pairing with Sanju Samson at the top of the order and David Miller might make his debut for RR against CSK.
