The long wait has finally come to an end. The BCCI has finally announced the much-awaited IPL 2020 schedule. As expected the tournament will kick start on the 19th of September with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings. This clash between the arch-rivals, commonly known as the El-Classico of the IPL, is expected to break all viewership records.

The IPL Governing Council on Sunday announced the schedule for Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020 to be held in UAE. The season will kickstart on 19 September in Abu Dhabi with Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings. The tournament will be held in the three iconic cricket venues of  UAE, namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

After the blockbuster clash on Saturday, the tournament will shift to Dubai. The city will host the next two games on Sunday (20 September) when Delhi Capitals take on Kings XI Punjab followed by a match on Monday (21 September) between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

After that, the action will take place in the last of the three chosen cities, Sharjah. Rajasthan Royals will host Chennai Super Kings on 22 September at the iconic Sharjah Cricket stadium. In total, 24 matches will be held in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi, and 12 in Sharjah. The tournament will come to a close on 10th November. The venue for the Dream11 IPL finals hasn’t been finalized yet.

IPL 2020 will be the longest IPL Season

The upcoming season of the IPL is by far the longest season in the history of the tournament. It will be a 53-day tournament and will include ten doubleheaders. The evening matches are scheduled to start from 3:30 PM IST (2:00 PM UAE time) and all the evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST (6:00 PM UAE time).

This year’s IPL was originally scheduled to be held from March 29 to May 24 but was forcefully postponed just weeks before the start of the tournament due to the coronavirus outbreak around the world.
