IPL 2023 CSK Playing XI: IPL is all set to return for its 16th edition in 2023. 10 teams will take part in this T20 tournament. All teams released their player retention lists on 15th November 2022. Many big names have been shown the exit doors by the team’s management.

Talking about Chennai Super Kings, they have dropped Dwayne Bravo from their squad. Bravo has proven to be a match-winner for the team on multiple occasions. Hence, his exclusion has raised many eyebrows. Meanwhile, putting an end to all rumors, Ravindra Jadeja was retained by CSK.

    CSK 2023 Playing XI

    1. Ruturaj Gaikwad

    2. Devon Conway

    3. Ambati Rayudu

    4. Moeen Ali

    5. Shivam Dube

    6. MS Dhoni (captain)

    7. Ravindra Jadeja

    8. Deepak Chahar

    9. Mukesh Chowdhary

    10. Maheesh Theekshana

    11. Tushan Deshpande

    Top Order

Ruturaj is a promising youngster for the team. Hence, he will take control of the opening slot. New Zealander, Devon Conway is most likely to be his partner for this edition.

    Middle Order

Ambati Raydu will be placed in the middle order in the absence of Suresh Raina. His records are good, and he is a solid player in the middle. Since Robin Uthappa announced his retirement, he won’t be taking part in this tournament. Thus, his place will be filled by Shivam Dube at No. 4.

Depending on the situation, the No. 5 and No. 6 positions could be swapped between MS Dhoni and Moeen Ali.

    All-rounders

The void left by Bravo will be the toughest to fill. He was a perfect all-rounder for CSK and provided much-needed depth in the batting lineup as well. Furthermore, Ravindra Jadeja, who was rumored to be released, has found a place in the squad. He will be given the task of filling Bravo’s shoes.

    Pace unit

IPL 2022 produced a young talent in form of Mukesh Chowdhary. He will assist the lead pacer, Deepak Chahar, in the bowling unit. Deepak missed the previous season owing to a back injury. CSK repurchased him in the auction for a whopping 14 crores. Hence, his presence is vital for the squad.

    Spin Attack

Speaking of spin, Sri Lankan mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana is the key for CSK. He was highly impressive in the previous edition, and hence, CSK decided to retain the spin wizard. Moreover, he will receive assistance from Jadeja and Moeen Ali.

CSK had a disappointing outing in IPL 2022. The squad for his year looks strong. Also, if they manage to get hold of a couple of overseas players in the auction, the team will become lethal. Also, it is rumored that this edition will be the last for CSK skipper MS Dhoni. Hence, the team would like to bid a happy farewell.
