IPL 2026: Three Players Who Can Replace Ben Duckett in Delhi Capitals’ Squad

Ahead of the start of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals have been dealt a significant blow with English opener Ben Duckett withdrawing from the league at the very last moment. Duckett, who was bought by the Capitals at his base price, i.e., INR 2 crore, refused to join the squad to prioritize his England career. With this withdrawal, Duckett has ruled himself out of IPL 2026 and is set to face a two‑auction ban that sidelines him from IPL 2027 and 2028.

While Duckett’s absence leaves a void in the squad for an overseas player, Delhi Capitals still have options to explore, especially with Pathum Nissanka already in the squad as an overseas opener. As per IPL rules, any franchise can opt for an injury replacement only from the pool of players who have registered their names in the subsequent auctions. The franchise will now look at suitable replacements for the left-hander who can bring spark to DC’s already settled batting line up.

Jamie Smith (England)
