The IPL 2027 trade window is wide open, and we got a new trade yesterday. Left-arm pacer T Natarajan has returned to the 2019 champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, from the Delhi Capitals, and in return, the Capitals have secured the services of UP’s 26-year-old leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari.

The IPL committee officially confirmed the trade following an agreement between the two franchises ahead of the retention deadline. The move has added yet another pacer in SRH, whereas the young spin attack of the Delhi Capitals has been bolstered with yet another leg spinner.

The trade comes with notable financial adjustments for both players involved:

  • T Natarajan: Originally acquired by Delhi Capitals at the mega auction for ₹10.75 crore, the 35-year-old pacer rejoins SRH at a revised fee of ₹5 crore. This represents a pay cut of roughly 53% to facilitate his return to Hyderabad.
  • Zeeshan Ansari: The young leg-spinner moves to Delhi Capitals at his existing fee of ₹40 lakh.

IPL 2027 Trade: A homecoming for T Natarajan

For T Natarajan, hopping from Delhi Capitals to the Sunrisers Hyderabad is a homecoming of sorts. Natarajan previously represented Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2020 to 2024, picking up 65 wickets in 55 matches. He still stands as the third-highest wicket-taker of the franchise, only behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar (157) and Rashid Khan (93).

His breakthrough season came in 2024 when he finished as the leading wicket-taker for the franchise with 19 wickets. However, he was released ahead of the 2025 season in the mega auction, where the Capitals bought him for a lucrative ₹10.75 crore.

After transferring to Delhi Capitals, injuries restricted Natarajan’s game time, as he featured in just two matches during his initial campaign before returning to play 10 games in 2026. Rejoining SRH provides the Hyderabad management with a trusted Indian death-bowling partner alongside their pace attack, which struggled in the last two seasons.

IPL 2027 Trade: Zeeshan Ansari, another addition to Delhi’s young spin department

For Delhi Capitals, acquiring Zeeshan Ansari is a massive move, particularly after they traded their premier spinner Kuldeep Yadav with the Lucknow Super Giants. Zeeshan Ansari will add depth to their spin-bowling department alongside Axar Patel, Tripurana Vijay, Ajay Mandal, and Vipraj Nigam.

Ansari made his IPL debut for SRH during the 2026 season, making a strong first impression by taking three wickets on debut against Delhi Capitals. Overall, he played 10 matches for SRH, taking 6 wickets. A former India Under-19 international who played in the 2016 World Cup alongside Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan, Ansari’s googly and ability to bowl under pressure make him an exciting prospect for Delhi’s slow-bowling unit.

With the IPL 2027 mini-auctions slated to take place in December in Goa, both franchises will be looking to fill up their slots and curate a squad that can help them win the IPL title in 2017. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be chasing their second triumph after 2016, whereas the Delhi Capitals still wait for their maiden IPL triumph.
