Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Padikkal available for SRH vs RCB: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign with a brilliant 2-wicket win over defending champions Mumbai Indians in the season opener. RCB’s premier opener Devdutt Padikkal who delivered a fabulous performance in his debut IPL season last year missed the previous game due to health issues as he has just recovered from coronavirus. However, RCB Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson has come up with a major update over Padikkal’s availability for the today match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Devdutt Padikkal to play SRH vs RCB IPL Match Today?

Padikkal tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks before the start of IPL 2021 and he underwent home quarantine to recover from the deadly virus. He joined the rest of the RCB side in time before IPL 2021 season opener against MI, but the medical experts asked the left-hander to take some rest before getting on to the field. However, Mike Hesson has confirmed that Padikkal will be considered for selection and he is “most likely to play” in their upcoming game against SRH on Wednesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

“Right now I am completely fine, most importantly I am able to move around well, I am able to react to balls and that’s the most important part…in IPL you always have to be ready, you always have to be 100 percent in every situation. Unless you are 100 percent, you can’t really push yourself,” said Devdutt Padikkal in a video posted on RCB’s Twitter handle.

According to recent reports, several IPL teams are not happy with Devdutt Padikkal straightaway walking into RCB’s bio-bubble after home quarantine. As per the guidelines issued by the BCCI ahead of the start of IPL 2021, all players had to undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine period before entering into the team’s bio-bubble. However, while speaking in Padikkal’s defense, an RCB spokesperson mentioned that the player had test negative for coronavirus thrice before entering the bio-bubble.
