While talking about the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 to be held in the United Emirates, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah said that it will be huge and that he is really looking forward to it and giving it his best. Currently, Bumrah is on top of the ICC ODI bowlers ranking and it looks like he would like to maintain that.
Bumrah said that being on top of the ICC ranking is a matter of great pride for him and he is aware of the top line players he will be facing. He knows the conditions and challenges are going to be tough but he is ready to give it his best.
Currently, Bumrah is at the #1 spot on the ICC ODI bowlers ranking with 775 points which is just 12 points ahead of Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan. His teammate Kuldeep Yadav is at #6 with 684 and Yuzvendra Chahal at #9 with 666 points
There is no doubt that the Asia Cup will be challenging and many bowlers will be trying to make their way into the top 10 and top 3. Pakistan’s Hasan Ali will be trying to move up from the third place that he is to the first spot.
Even the batsmen aren’t far behind as Pakistan’s Babar Azam will try to close the gap between him and the current #1 ICC ODI batsman, Virat Kohli. Babar is currently on the #2 spot with 825 points under Kohli who sits at #1 with 911 points.
Babar had commented that he knows Virat is way ahead in rating points but this tournament will be a good way for him to gain some more points to reach Virat who isn’t playing in this tournament.
