Buttler Cornwall

At the start of the Day one of the final Test match in the Wisden series between England and West Indies, the hosts looked in deep trouble after being put in to bat by Jason Holder. Kemar Roach took two crucial wickets of Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley to put England under pressure. But England bounced back courtesy of two fine innings from Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler. During the course of the innings, Jos Buttler slammed a huge six of Rahkeem Cornwall that amazed everybody.

Jos Buttler, Ollie Pope rescue England

After being put in to bat first by Jason Holder, England lost early momentum as the wickets started falling quickly in the first session itself. West Indies veteran Kemar Roach led the onslaught as he picked up the centurions of the last match Dom Sibley and the inform Ben Stokes with two cracking deliveries. Opener Rory Burns hanged in there for quite some time scoring 57 of 147 balls before falling to Roston Chase.

The major rescue was done by middle-order batsman Ollie Pope and Wicket Keeper batsman Jos Buttler, who stitched a solid partnership, which shifted the momentum to England’s side in the third session.  Ollie Pope scored 91 of 142 balls and Buttler scored 56 of 120 balls and remained not out after the end of first days play.

Jos Buttler sends Cornwall to the stands

During the longstanding partnership between Buttler and Pope, Buttler smashed a ball of Rahkeem Cornwall’s bowling which went straight up to the stands. The incident happened during the last ball of the 68th over. Cornwall bowled a flighted delivery which was in the slot for Jos Buttler. He, who was in good touch whacked it over the wide long-on region which went straight up and hit the stands. This was the second six of that over, the third ball of that over was also smoked by Buttler over the deep mid-wicket region.

Rahkeem Cornwall is playing his first Test in this series. He replaced the pace bowler Alzarri Joseph in the lineup.
