Shreyas Iyer is one of the many Indian cricketers who is quite active on social media. He has been seen posting funny comments on his teammates’ profiles and pictures. His wittiness is quite subtle and is liked by many fans. But this time, the middle-order sensation from Mumbai thought of targeting his captain Virat Kohli by trolling him on Instagram on a post.

Iyer trolls Kohli on Instagram

The BCCI had posted a picture of the Indian captain Virat Kohli as he can be seen wearing the Indian team blazer and walking out for the toss. The shot was taken before the start of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Wellington. The 31-year old Indian skipper can also be seen with an animated expression. Also, it can be easily spotted that Kohli’s blazer seems to be flying due to the fast winds in Wellington.

But, the Instagram page also left it to the fans for captioning the picture. It said, “Let’s put on our thinking caps and caption this? The best one will feature right here. Go.Go.Go #NZvIND”.

Seeing this as an invitation to showcase his humour, Shreyas Iyer wrote “Ke ghungroo toot gaye !”, which literally translates to “my anklet bells have been broken’. This is not the first time when Iyer has pulled someone’s leg but doing this to his skipper surely means that the two cricketers share a good camaraderie.

Iyer has been getting regular opportunities since the end of the World Cup last year and he has repaid the faith of the skipper with match-winning performances. Iyer is not with the Test squad currently which is touring New Zealand but he has made his place fixed in the white-ball squad for now at least. During the ODIs in New Zealand, Iyer scored a century and two fifties in the three matches and played some impressive cricket throughout the tour.

Windy Wellington takes a toll on Kohli

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, had a disappointing outing in the first day’s play at the Basin Reserve ground in Wellington. He was dismissed by the debutant Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson for the score of just two runs. India managed to score 112 runs till the tea break for the loss of five wickets. After this, the rain halted India’s innings.
