Indian opener says its nice to get runs under the belt

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan feels that the absence of Indian captain Virat Kohli doesn’t change things for the team and he claimed that the team tries to give in their best whenever and wherever they are playing.

India went into the Asia cup without their best batsman and captain Virat Kohli but as said by Dhawan the team hardly missed him as the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is scoring the bulk of the runs.

The left-hand batsman admitted that it feels nice to get some runs under the belt and every player wants to be as consistent as possible.

Dhawan claims vice-captaincy doesn’t change his game

Dhawan opened about his batting while speaking with the media ahead of the finals of Asia Cup in which India will face Bangladesh. Currently, the left-hand batsman is the vice-captain of the team and when asked about this role, the opening batsman said that there is no pressure of vice-captaincy on him.

He joked that all the pressure is on the team’s captain and he is just enjoying his time as the vice-captain of the team.

When asked about his batting he stated that as far as his batting is concerned, it remains the same. He further added that it won’t change his game just because he has been made the vice-captain.

India to take on Bangladesh in the title clash 

Team India will be battling against Bangladesh on September 28 in the finals of Asia Cup. The left-hander has continued his purple patch in this tournament as well and has scored two centuries in four innings so far. He along with Rohit Sharma has been unstoppable at the top of the order and it is the reason why India hasn’t felt the absence of Kohli in the middle order.
