Marnus Labuschagne

After a phenomenal run in the Red ball cricket, Australia’s newest Test sensation Marnus Labuschagne is curious to test his skills against India in the upcoming 3-match ODI series which is all set to get underway from January 14th at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Marnus Labuschagne says playing in India is always challenging

The 25-year old has been really graceful in Test cricket as he has scored 4 tons in the last 5 games which includes a double-century as well.

“Whenever you play India, it’s a tough series because they’re a very tough opposition. They’ve got great batters and bowlers, so it’s going to be a challenge,” Labuschagne was quoted as saying by the Cricket Australia website. “But as a player, you always want to test yourself against the best opposition in the toughest conditions, and there’s nothing tougher than India in India.”

Will be playing ODIs for the first time

Marnus Labuschagne has already proved his worth and prominence in Test cricket despite being just 14 Test old. He has already made a mark for himself in the longest and the most priceless formats of the game and its now time to carry this fabulous form in White-ball cricket as well.

He has been often lauded as the ‘Next big thing’ in Test cricket by cricket pundits and has already drawn comparisons with the likes of modern-day greats in Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Steven Smith.

“For people to speak like that is amazing, but there’s a lot more work to be done before anything like that can be talked about,” he said. “Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith – those guys have been doing it for five, six, seven years. To have one good summer doesn’t make you a great player. So for me, it’s about trying to be consistent and trying to get Australia to win games.”
