The big breaking news update coming from the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp is that their premier overseas fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season. It has not turned out to be an ideal IPL 2023 campaign for the Mumbai Indians so far having managed to win 5 out of their 10 matches. MI are currently slotted at the eighth spot on the points table with as many as five losses to their name.

Unfortunately, the Mumbai Indians will miss the services of Jofra Archer for today’s MI vs RCB match and for the remainder of the T20 competition. The England pacer will now return home to focus on his rehabilitation in consultation with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB). While coming from a long injury lay-off, Archer has played just 5 matches for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 having taken just a couple of wickets at an expensive economy rate of close to 10. It is also reported that the pacer had to fly to Belgium for a minor surgery during his ongoing stint for MI. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians have now signed England pacer Chris Jordan as the replacement player for the remaining competition.

“Pushing through the discomfort whilst recently playing, hoping it will settle, has proven challenging. Therefore, it has been agreed for him to return to the UK for a period of rest and rehabilitation to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery,” said ECB in their official press release.

“Archer will return to the UK this week and will work on his rehab with the ECB medical department and Sussex County Cricket Club, respectively.”
