Sanju Samson NZ vs IND: In a massive breaking news development, India’s Sanju Samson is not playing the second T20I encounter against New Zealand scheduled to be hosted at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The first T20I encounter between New Zealand and India was abandoned due to persistent rains at the Sky Stadium in Wellington.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India’s captain Hardik Pandya mentioned that Sanju Samson unfortunately misses out on the playing 11 for this second T20I game against New Zealand. Incidentally, Samson performed really well during the last ODI series against South Africa at home. On the other hand, India are already playing with two wicket-keeper options, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan. The duo of Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Hooda are also part of the middle-order for this second match, however, it will be really interesting to see the two openers for the Men in Blue.
“To get a game, a proper 20-over game, is exciting. We still need to assess the conditions and see how the wicket is behaving. If the wicket doesn’t help you, and you try playing shots and lose wickets, and it doesn’t rain, you might be in a difficult position. We’ll assess the situation, and if the rain comes, we’ll reassess. I don’t think in international cricket, if you come, I don’t think pace or bounce makes a difference now. It’s challenging. But you have the skillset to cope up with it in international cricket,” said Indian captain Hardik Pandya during the toss.
