Shardul Thakur NZ vs IND: In an important news update, India have not included right-arm seamer Shardul Thakur in the playing XI for this important second ODI game against New Zealand scheduled to be hosted at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. Even after scoring more than 300 runs in the first innings, India suffered a poor 7-wicket loss against New Zealand in the opening ODI. The Men in Blue are now trailing behind 0-1 in the three-match ODI series.
During the toss, India skipper Shikhar Dhawan mentioned that unfortunately Shardul Thakur is not playing today’s game against New Zealand in Hamilton. In the last game against the Kiwi side, Shardul ended up conceding a total of 63 runs in his 9 overs as the home team went on to chase 307 runs with more than 2 overs to spare. Moreover, the right-arm pacer gave away as many as 25 runs during the 40th over of the game that eventually proved to be a crucial juncture in the match. India have now brought in Deepak Chahar who is also a right-arm pace bowler having the ability to swing the ball during the first few overs and can even contribute well with the bat in the backend.
“We would have bowled first as there’s moisture in the wicket. Even in the last game the wicket was seaming for the first 10-15 overs, we got to keep the positive intent and go for the runs. We got 2 changes. Instead of Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar comes in and Deepak Hooda comes in place of Sanju Samson. We only need 10 percent of improvement and it makes a huge impact and especially in the death bowling, we got to be a bit more smarter,” said Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan during the toss.
