Martin Guptill NZ vs IRE: In a crucial news development, New Zealand’s senior opening batsman Martin Guptill still remains out of consideration for their final league stage match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Ireland scheduled to take place at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. The New Zealand side ended up conceding a poor 20-run loss at the hands of England in their most recent encounter but they have already won two matches in this tournament so far and a victory against Ireland will help them finish at the top position in Group 1.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson mentioned that they are going ahead with an unchanged playing combination from the last match. This also means that Martin Guptill will once again has to warm the bench despite both the current Kiwi openers, Devon Conway and Finn Allen not contributing much with the bat during the last two games against Sri Lanka and England. In the opening match against Australia, Conway scored a brilliant half-century while Allen smacked a terrific 42-run innings at a quick pace, which has kept Guptill out of consideration from the New Zealand playing 11 so far in this ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
“Looks a good surface. Some good lessons from the defeat. Hopefully we can build on it today. We know how strong they are. Played them recently. For us the focus is on our plans. Same team,” said New Zealand captain Kane Williamson during the toss.
