Martin Guptill NZ vs SL: In an important news development, New Zealand’s senior cricketer Martin Guptill is still not part of the playing 11 for their third game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. New Zealand kickstarted their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on a wonderful note as they picked up a spectacular 89-run win against defending champions Australia. However, the Kiwi team witnessed an unfortunate washout in their second game against Afghanistan.
After winning a crucial toss and opting to bat first, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson noted that Martin Guptill is once again missing out for this match against Sri Lanka. Guptill was not part of the New Zealand playing XI during the opening match against Australia as they preferred to back explosive young opening batsman Finn Allen at the top. Allen took the Aussie bowlers right away in the first six overs of the powerplay as he smashed a blistering cameo of 42 runs off just 16 balls that included 5 fours and 3 sixes. New Zealand have made just a single change to their side as Daryl Mitchell is completely fit and he replaces Mark Chapman.
“We will bat. Looks like a good surface, we have played once before and we did well. It’s nice to be back after a while, we have different oppositions at different conditions during this tournament. One change – Daryl Mitchell replaces Mark Chapman,” said New Zealand captain Kane Williamson during the toss.
