Pant, Shaw, Umesh and Rahane make giant strides in ICC Player Rankings

India demolished Windies in the recently completed Test series and this win enabled India to strengthen their dominance at the top of the ICC Test team rankings. At the same time, Indian players have gained immensely from the two Tests with youngsters Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw emerging as the biggest beneficiaries.

Shaw reaches to number 60, Pant jumps 49 spots

Prithvi Shaw who made his debut in this Test series won the man of the series award for his one century and one half-century in three innings. He is now placed at number 60 in the ICC Test batting rankings.

After the first Test, Shaw was placed at number 73 but his solid performance in the second Test in which he scored 70 and 33 not out in two innings pushed him further in the rankings. He is now at number 60

The series was helpful for another young Indian batsman Rishabh Pant. Before the start of the series the left-hander was placed at number 111 in the list but thanks to his two knocks of 92 runs each, he is now sitting at number 62.

Umesh move four places

Umesh Yadav made a comeback in the Indian team through this Test series and created an impact by picking up a ten-wicket haul in the second Test. He registered his best bowling figures in Test career and became the only third Indian pacer to claim ten wickets in a Test on Indian soil.

Courtesy of this performance, Yadav has reached the 25th spot in ICC Test bowlers rankings.

Rahane back in Top 20

India’s middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane who was struggling recently found form in the second Test as he played a gritty knock of 80 runs.

This innings has brought him back in the top 20 and he is now at number 18. Meanwhile Indian captain Virat Kohli has retained his top position in the batting department in Tests.
