Pat Cummins Not Playing 4th Test: In a massive breaking news development, Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that regular skipper Pat Cummins will not be available for the fourth and final Test match in India and thus, Steve Smith will continue as captain. Australia will take on India in the final Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 starting from 9 March, 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Australia made a sensational comeback by registering an excellent 9-wicket victory in the third Test match and the four-match Test series currently stands at 2-1 in India’s favour.

Cricket Australia on Monday announced that their regular Test captain Pat Cummins will not return for the fourth and final Test match against India. Incidentally, Cummins returned back home in Sydney just after the conclusion of the second Test in Delhi in order to take care of his mother who is suffering from breast cancer and is in palliative care. This means that Steve Smith who captained the Aussie team remarkably well during the third Test match victory will have another chance to showcase his leadership credentials in the fourth Test as well. Incidentally, Smith is one of the few captains to win one or more Test matches in India in the past 10-12 years.

The visiting Australian team are unlikely to make any big time changes to their playing XI from the Indore Test match. However, Mitchell Starc’s fitness will be a concern for the Aussies as he bowled with an injured finger in the last game.
