Ravichandran Ashwin bags POTM

In the first three Test matches against England played in February 2021, Ashwin picked up a total of 24 wickets and also scored a magnificent century in the second Test on a square turning track. India’s senior off-spinner also reached the milestone of 400 Test wickets during the pink ball Test match against England and became the second fastest bowler to reach the landmark. With an outstanding tally of 32 wickets and 189 runs, Ashwin was adjudged the Man of the Series and it was the 8th time when the Indian cricketer won the award. After Rishabh Pant won the inaugural ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award, Ashwin is the second Indian in the elite category.

“Ashwin’s consistent wicket-taking, even in helpful conditions have helped to put his team ahead in a very important series. His century in the second Test was as critical as it came when England were trying to claw their way back into the match. That knock ensured that India shut the door on the opposition,” said Ian Bishop representing the ICC Voting Academy.

Tammy Beaumont gets rewarded for consistent performances

England opener Tammy Beaumont played 3 ODI against New Zealand in February and ended up registering 50-plus scores in each of the games. Beaumont notched up an impressive tally of 231 runs as England clinched the three-match ODI series by a 2-1 margin.

While commenting on Beaumont’s performance in February, Ian Bishop added: “Three half centuries of which two were in helping her team win the match was outstanding from Beaumont. Particular emphasis on the fact that two of the knocks were unbeaten innings, and coming inevitably, on two occasions whilst having lost her opening partner early on, she had to see things through for her team, which was incredible.”
