WATCH: Robin Uthappa caught applying saliva on the ball during RR vs KKR match

Robin Uthappa's debut season for RR hasn’t gone the way expected in his first 3 games. He has scored a grand total of 16 runs from his 3 outings so far with the bat. To top it all, he dropped an easy catch and gave Sunil Narine a lifeline in the game against KKR.

RR were on an unbeaten run in their first two games and played against Dinesh Karthik led Kolkata Knight Riders in their 3rd game which didn’t go in the way expected. They were defeated rather easily by KKR as their top 3 batsmen failed which literally ended the game for them.

Robin Uthappa breached the rule

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and asked Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first. They started their bowling with Jofra Archer unlike in the previous game and bowled really well and didn’t allow KKR batsmen to get off to a good start.

Sunil Narine, who is struggling for form was tied down by RR bowlers in this game as well. He was even dropped by Robin Uthappa off the bowling of Jaydev Unadkat. The experienced Robin Uthappa didn’t know what to do after he dropped the catch and in the heat of the moment, applied saliva to the ball which should be avoided amidst pandemic. A ban has been imposed by ICC on applying saliva to stop the spread of corona virus but the players are finding it difficult to come out of it.

RR slip to their 1st loss in IPL 2020

At the end of 3 games, all the teams have lost at least one game and this IPL has become more interesting now. With no team owning the upper hand, this season can be one of the most exciting season of all.

RR were asked to chase 175 runs on a wicket that had bounce but the likes of Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagerkotti were too much for them as they fell short by 37 runs in the end. Tom Curran top scored for RR with a fighting half century. RR will face RCB in their next league game.
