Rohit Sharma donates Rs 80 lakh to fight Coronavirus pandemic

Indian opener Rohit Sharma has come up with his own bit and donated Rs 45 Lakhs to PM Care Fund. PM Narendra Modi insisted people to donate for this major issue worldwide earlier, and Rohit Sharma has donated for the same.

Rohit Sharma took to his official twitter handle and tweeted;

“We need our country back on feet & the onus is on us. I’ve done my bit to donate 45lakhs to #PMCaresFunds, 25lakhs to #CMReliefFund Maharashtra, 5lakhs to @FeedingIndia  and 5lakhs to #WelfareOfStrayDogs.Let’s get behind our leaders and support them @narendramodi @CMOMaharashtra”

Not only to PM Cares fund, but he donated to others as well

Rohit donated a sum of Rs 45 Lakhs to the PM Cares Fund. Apart from this, he has donated Rs 25 Lakhs to Maharashtra’s CM Relief Fund, Rs 5 Lakhs for Feeding India which takes the initiative to feed the poor people, and lastly, he donated Rs 5 Lakhs to Welfare of Stray Dogs. A total sum of Rs 80 Lakhs has been donated by Rohit.

Yesterday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma also did their bit by donating to PM Cares Fund and Maharashtra’s CM Relief Fund. However, the couple didn’t disclose the amount.

Here’s what Virat tweeted;

“Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona”

Other cricketers have also come up with donations

Budding Indian women cricketer, Richa Ghosh started the chain by donating Rs 1 Lakh. India’s most successful women skipper Mithali Raj did her bit by donating Rs 10 Lakh, whereas Poonam Yadav who was phenomenal in the recently concluded Women’s T20 World Cup has donated Rs 2 Lakh.

Apart from the women cricketers, Suresh Raina and Ajinkya Rahane have also done their bit and donated for this Nobel cause.
