India is now scheduled to host Australia for a three-match ODI series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier announced that ODI skipper Rohit Sharma will unfortunately miss the opening ODI encounter against Australia due to family commitments. Incidentally, Rohit captained the Indian Test team during all the four Test matches against Australia and the senior Indian opener also scored a brilliant century in India’s last ODI game against New Zealand at home. In his absence, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will captain the national team during the first game against the Aussies on Friday. It is also very much likely that Ishan Kishan will get the opportunity to open the batting alongside Shubman Gill.

Suryakumar Yadav will be batting in the middle-order after Shreyas Iyer picked up a back injury during the last Test match against Australia. However, it will be really interesting to see the choice of bowling attack the Indian team management prefers with a whole lot of options available.
