Both Kieron Pollard and MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene mentioned that Rohit Sharma did not play the IPL 2021 Phase 2 opener as a precautionary measure for the injury which he sustained during the 4th Test in England. However, Mumbai Indians pacer Trent Boult gave an important update on Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya’s injury update on the eve of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scheduled on 23 September. “They (Rohit and Hardik) are both recovering well, in terms of their selection for the next game, I am not too sure. It was a bit of a precautionary move to rest them,” said Trent Boult during a pre-match press conference.
