Rajasthan Royals are back to winning ways. In their 200th IPL game, Rajasthan Royals have registered a win over Chennai Super Kings and have marked their way back to winning ways. With this win, RR have regained their pole position on the points table, meanwhile CSK have slipped to the second spot.
After winning the toss, home skipper Sanju Samson opted to bat first on a wicket which offered some live grass. The decision didn’t backfire as Rajasthan Royals got off to a smokey start. Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t took time to tee off and surprisingly it was Jos Buttler who played the second fiddle in a fabulous first wicket partnership that lasted for 86 runs off 50 deliveries.
Despite getting a solid opening stand at one stage RR was struggling and found themselves in some sort of trouble after the middle order failed to get going. However, late blows from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel helped RR cross the 200-run mark for the first time in IPL history at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR ended with 202/5 from 20 overs.
CSK’s reply was led by Ruturaj Gaikwad after Devon Conway struggled early on and lost his wicket in the 6th over. Conway was struggling from the very first ball and couldn’t got going at any stage. CSK’s middle order led by Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube showed some promise, but after Rahane got out cheaply for 15 off 13 deliveries, Shivam was the lone warrior with the bat. The left-hander played a lone hand in the middle with 52 off 33 deliveries but couldn’t avoid CSK’s third defeat of the season. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s swashbuckling knock of 77 from 43 deliveries helped him claim the Man of the Match award.
