In an important news update, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are unfortunately not playing their premier pacer Deepak Chahar in their 8th encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) being played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Things have panned out in an ideal manner for the Chennai Super Kings lately in this 16th edition of the IPL as they have registered three impressive back-to-back victories against Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
RR vs CSK: Why is Deepak Chahar Playing Today’s Match IPL?
The Chennai Super Kings will once again take the field without their pace bowler Deepak Chahar part of the CSK playing XI for today’s RR vs CSK match. Unfortunately, while bowling during the previous IPL 2023 game against Mumbai Indians, the 30-year-old fast bowler pulled off his hamstring which subsequently ruled him out of action for the matches against Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. The CSK team management have already stated that Chahar is on the road to recovery but it is still not clear as to when he will be available for selection in the IPL 2023 season for the Chennai Super Kings. It is reported that the CSK new ball bowler might be making a return in the first or second week of May.
In the current IPL 2023 season, Deepak Chahar’s bowling performance for CSK was not up to the mark. Despite playing in three matches, he was unable to take any wickets and his economy rate was over 10 runs per over.

Deepak Chahar IPL 2023 Price
Chennai Super Kings had put in INR 14 Crore for Deepak Chahar during IPL 2022 mega auction. Unfortunately, Chahar had to sit out due to injury. However, CSK had decided to retain him for IPL 2023, which was a clear sign of their confidence in the player. Despite not being able to contribute to the team last season, CSK is banking on Chahar to make a strong comeback in the IPL 2023 season.
