The inaugural champions, the Rajasthan Royals (RR), are all set to host the Delhi Capitals (C) in match 43 of Tata IPL 2026 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The Capitals are desperate to turn their season around, as they have won only 3 matches from 8 games so far this season and are languishing in seventh spot on the points table. Meanwhile, the Royals have played some really good cricket so far, having won 6 out of 9 games and losing only 3; they currently stand 4th on the table.
The Royals have been riding on the imperious form of their 15-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is leading the batting charts for his side this season. The fearless left-hander has struck 400 runs in the season so far from just 9 innings at a staggering strike rate of 238.09. Meanwhile, Delhi has been struggling to find rhythm despite winning their opening two encounters. There hasn’t been a cohesive effort from the batters and the bowlers so far this season, which has made life tough for the Capitals. Ahead of this exciting clash, let’s take a look at some of the key player battles that could define the RR vs DC clash in Jaipur.
Perhaps the battle that could define the course of this match. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has had no mercy on big names, and Mitchell Starc could be the next in line to feel the wrath of this 15-year-old prodigy. Vaibhav has hit a six on the first ball he faced from Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah and hit a first-over six on Josh Hazlewood. All these are big names in international cricket, but Vaibhav has shown no respect and has no mercy on these names.
Starc will be playing competitive cricket after almost three months. He last played the Big Bash League 2025-26 final in January and, since then, has been nursing his elbow and shoulder injury. The veteran left-armer will be up against the exciting young left-hand batter who has been prolific so far this season. This first-time Starc vs Sooryavanshi battle is surely one battle everyone’s looking forward to.
The English pacer Jofra Archer is perhaps enduring his best IPL season. He sits at the top for the most dot balls this season and has scalped 14 wickets in 9 games so far this season. He is the current leading wicket-taker for RR and just one wicket away from taking the Purple Cap from the current holder, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Archer will be up against the class of KL Rahul. The DC opener has been in prolific form this season and has scored runs at a brisk pace. KL is the leading run-getter for DC thus far this season with a tally of 358 runs from 8 innings, including two fifties and a rollicking ton. Archer and KL have crossed paths in the past in 6 IPL innings, wherein KL has dominated the English pacer, scoring 90 runs off 61 balls and having been dismissed only once. This is another battle fans will have a keen eye on.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is another big prodigy and an incredible star for the Rajasthan Royals. Jaiswal doesn’t shy away from taking on big names, but the same couldn’t be true when the bowler is DC’s left-arm chinaman, Kuldeep Yadav. The veteran bowler has troubled Jaiswal with his variations and guile in the past.
Kuldeep has bowled 12 deliveries to Jaiswal, given away 19 runs, and has got the better of him once. With Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal scoring the majority of runs for the Royals this season, Kuldeep operating in the powerplay against Jaiswal is something the DC skipper and management should take a call on.
Rajasthan Royals is one of the opponents David Miller loves to bat against. The stylish left-hand batter has been brutal against the Royals, scoring 389 runs in just 11 innings at a staggering average of 77.8 and a massive strike rate of 164.13. Miller has great numbers against the likes of Sandeep Sharma and Jofra Archer in the IPL, and he surely knows how to get the better of his countryman Nandre Burger.
David Miller will play a vital role for the Delhi Capitals down the order. He is the designated finisher for this side and will fancy his chances of scoring runs against a side he has enjoyed batting the most. Expect a good day with the bat for Miller against the Royals.
